Rise and Shine! Today is going to be a great day! It's going to be a great day because today is the first day of dance! But wait!!! Are we ready for dance?! Do we have our tap shoes ready? Is our dance bag ready?!

Maybe you are a first time "dance mom" or maybe you are a seasoned "dance parent." Either way, the first day of dance can be a little overwhelming. I have put together our Top 5 things you can do to make the first day of dance the BEST FIRST DAY EVER!

  1. Getting Ready for Dance class

    1. Get your dancer excited; talk about dance and how much fun they will be having learning new things.

  2. What to Wear - Fashion and Functionality

    1. Check out our Studio Dress Code for what to wear to class!

    2. Make sure your dancer's clothes are comfortable for them to move in, we don't want anything that is too tight OR too loose!

    3. This includes shoes! Make sure your dancer's shoes are comfortable and practice having them take their own shoes on and off.

  3. Dance Bag - Fun and Functionality

    1. Find a bag that gets your dancer excited and will fit everything they need!

    2. Your dance bag should include:

      1. Water Bottle

      2. A Right and Left Dance Shoe for all styles needed.

      3. Any change of clothes needed.

    3. Your dance bag should not include:

      1. Toys, Barbies, Dolls, etc

      2. Other items you don't need for dance

  4. Arriving to Dance Class

    1. Arrive 5 - 10 minutes early to give you time to take care of any last minute getting ready items, touching up hair, eating a quick snack, etc.

  5. Saying Goodbye

    1. Be ready to give your dancer a quick kiss and hug goodbye, don't linger, this can sometimes make it harder to say goodbye. Then, let our staff take it from there. We know it can be scary going to a new place, which is totally understandable, we know this and have plans in place to help your little one warm up and get comfortable.

    2. DON'T WORRY! If we can't help your dancers calm down we will call you. We've never had to do this!

    3. Encourage your dancer to have fun and ensure them that you will be back as soon as class is over and tell them you can't wait to hear all about dance class!

Here's a BONUS TIP!

Going Home with a Smile for Parents and Dancers!

  • Signing Out - All dancers will be brought to the door with their dance bag ready for them to be signed out.

  • Show and Tell - Ask them to show you what they learned and tell you about what they did in class!

  • Ask them to tell you their favorite part of class and start getting them excited for next week!

These tips are great for the first day of dance and through-out the entire year! We hope that your dancer loves dance as much as we do!

See you on the dance floor!
